The Phoenix is known to everybody as the legendary long lived fire bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn by arising from the ashes of its predecessor.
Associated with the sun, it is fascinating how, for the last 4000 years, we can observe analogies in various cultures all around the planet, from Greece and India to Russia and Persia about the same life renewal myth.
In China, Fenghuang (鳳凰) reigns over all other birds!. As the figure of virtue and grace, it symbolizes the union in between Yin and Yang.
It is with no surprise that we understand why China Resources has chosen that emblem to define their next multi use building development in this renewed city that is Beijing in 2008.
But I’m here to present you an other great friend of mine who comes from fire.
Unfortunately, he is probably less known to the Grand public as such. In fact, his name is ... Granite.
Granite is great!. As an ubiquitous component of the Earth crust, Granite has crystallized from magmas in fusion during a various laps of times.
And that is why, Granite is at the end just Fire!.
Here in Beijing Phoenix City, the re-birth is in act and physically, everything is in between.
Granite is melting again and the 8 meters tall wings bursts suddenly from the stone pavement.
At this high, this sculpture defy gravity and interrogate ourself about movement and stability.
Welcome to a brand new life!.
